Downtown_ Jonathan Adler

If you love kitch as much as I do, then you must make it a point to stop in and have fun with Jonathan Adler’s pottery collection.  The pottery is witty and whimsical.  Additionally, he works with Aid to Artisans, a non-profit organization that helps artisans in developing countries make products for the American market.  With a belief in “irreverent luxury,” Adler embodies all things heavenly for the home.

Around Town _ Anderson Ville – Brimfield

“Exceptional Plaids” is their tag line and best way to describe this two-story shop.  It is filled with every texture and style of plaid.  There is plaid on benches, plaid on pillows, plaid on the walls and plaid on the floor.  This is not your current pop art style plaid; this is hunting plaid, with some animal heads on the walls to prove it.  All of the items are second hand, which can deter some people.

I considered purchasing an authentic wool throw blanket from the red cross created in the 1950s.  I loved the wool texture and originality it possessed and was reminded of my original green wool blanket I got at Brody’s for my first summer at Walden.

Out-Of-Town_ New York – Funding the Cure

I just received an advanced copy today.  Written by my Uncle, Martin Shenkman, and dedicated to my father and family for his continued fight with Parkinson’s.  There will be more information posted on my website under “Philanthropy” for purchase of the book.
